SYDNEY CENTRAL - Legal Refresher 2020 AND Writing an Authentic Funeral Ceremony

This will give the participant a refresher in celebrancy law. Not all celebrants have had the opportunity to conduct regular or many ceremonies, or have been unsure of some of the details of their legal responsibilities. This is when insecurities and inconsistencies arise, making it difficult for the celebrant to be confident of their legal responsibilities. This topic aims to provide refresher material, an overview of some of the legal aspects of our work.

This OPD topic covers the technical and creative skills of writing original, authentic and meaningful funeral ceremonies. Learn how to develop your writing skills to share the life story of the deceased by gathering the facts and recognise the impact a well-crafted ceremony can have on those attending the funeral. It begins with preparation for the family interview/meeting, developing a questionnaire to guide those involved to gather their thoughts and share their experiences of life with the deceased. Then tying it all together with music and ritual to write an authentic funeral ceremony. Learn how you best work with the language skills you have acquired in in your marriage celebrancy practice, and transfer those skills to create the life story of the deceased in the most honest, respectful and meaningful way possible.  Creative writing and excellent language and literacy skills are of key importance.
