VIC BDM RIO Online Demo (2 hours)

The Registry of Birth Deaths and Marriages in Victoria offers Victorian celebrants the opportunity to register marriages online. This topic will inform the celebrants how to fully utilise this software and how to troubleshoot problems. It will explain the common issues celebrants have, and how the online system can be used to the benefit of both the celebrant and the couple.

Writing an authentic funeral ceremony (3 hours)

This OPD topic covers the technical and creative skills of writing original, authentic and meaningful funeral ceremonies. Learn how to develop your writing skills to share the life story of the deceased by gathering the facts and recognise the impact a well-crafted ceremony can have on those attending the funeral. It begins with preparation for the family interview/meeting, developing a questionnaire to guide those involved to gather their thoughts and share their experiences of life with the deceased. Then tying it all together with music and ritual to write an authentic funeral ceremony. Learn how you best work with the language skills you have acquired in in your marriage celebrancy practice, and transfer those skills to create the life story of the deceased in the most honest, respectful and meaningful way possible.  Creative writing and excellent language and literacy skills are of key importance.
